Earlier in the week, BW Social Affordable Housing, part of the Braidwater Group, welcomed primary 5 pupils from St. Teresa’s Primary School on the Glen Road to its new site on the Monagh by-pass, Black Ridge (also known as Glenmona).

The visit was part of the company’s ongoing commitment to the local community, encouraging site visits, educational advancement and charitable donations.

As part of the visit, the pupils of St. Teresa’s Primary School were presented with junior hard hats, water bottles, rulers and measuring tapes.

Darren Farnan, marketing manager, Braidwater Group, explained why the visit was so important:

‘’We were thrilled to be able to welcome the P5 pupils from St.Teresa’s and we hope they enjoyed the visit and that it sets alight their imaginations on a future career in the construction industry.

‘’The children were given a light overview of the development and what is involved in the construction process from foundation level right through to the finished home. It’s not the first time we’ve linked up with St.Teresa’s PS and on behalf of the company I’d like to thank the principal, Terry Rodgers, and the teachers for agreeing to the site visit.

‘’As one of the leading house builders in Northern Ireland, The Braidwater Group is committed to ensuring construction progresses with involvement from the local community. This includes onsite visits, talks, career opportunities for school leavers and we also donate to worthwhile charitable organisations on an ongoing basis.’’

Black Ridge
One of the largest housing developments in Northern Ireland, Black Ridge is a new mixed-use urban village developed by Apex Housing Association (Apex) under the guidance of leading house builder BW Social Affordable Housing – part of the Braidwater Group.

Work first commenced on the site early in 2021 and the development will mature with over 650 social dwellings on the 75-acre site in the west of Belfast.

Along with the homes, the development will see a community centre with MUGA (multi-use games area) pitch, two care homes, a neighbourhood retail centre, a hotel and a number of children’s play areas.
