BW Social Affordable Housing, part of the Braidwater Group, has commenced construction on a transformative £15 million social housing scheme in Strabane.
Cllr Paul Gallagher and Darren Farnan from the Braidwater Group on the building site overlooking Strabane town.
Located on the former Convent Grammar School site on Curlyhill Road, the new development, which is being delivered in partnership with Woven Housing Association, will consist of 75 social and 3 affordable homes. With a thoughtfully designed mix of semi-detached, detached, townhouses and apartments, the scheme will cater for diverse housing needs in the community.
Ryan Boyle, Chief Operating Officer of the Braidwater Group, highlighted the importance of the project:
“This is an exciting opportunity for Strabane, bringing much-needed housing to the local community while creating valuable jobs throughout the construction process. The development has been designed to compliment the surrounding area, preserving mature landscapes and woodlands while providing high-quality homes.
As groundwork begins, we acknowledge that this phase may cause some temporary inconvenience. We kindly ask for the community’s patience and understanding as we lay the foundations for this vital project. Every effort will be made to minimise disruptions to nearby residents.’’
Local Independent Councillor Paul Gallagher welcomed the development calling it a ‘’jewel in the crown’’ for social housing in Strabane.
‘‘This project is long overdue, and I am, delighted to see work getting underway.’’
