Last week, the Braidwater Group welcomed WOMENSTEC NorthWest students to their Beech Hill View development to see first-hand all elements of the wide range of trades in practice.
Beech Hill View Site Manager Kevin Cosgrove pictured with the WOMENSTEC group during their visit.
The Braidwater Group is one of Northern Ireland’s leading house builders and has over 50 years’ experience in the house building industry and a range of developments located throughout the region from Derry-Londonderry to Belfast.
The developments include two of Northern Ireland’s largest residential schemes: Black Ridge in West Belfast with approximately 640 homes and The Cashel in Derry-Londonderry with close to 2,500 homes.
The WOMENSTEC students are currently studying a 6 week DIY course which builds the practical skills and knowledge to develop in the trades.
Aisling Conway, Senior People Manager at the Braidwater Group, was delighted with the WOMENSTEC link up and site visit:
‘’We were delighted to host such an enthusiastic group of WOMENSTEC students at our Beech Hill View site. Site visits like these are a fantastic way for students to gain hands on understanding of the construction process, from the early timber frame installation right through to the finishing stages…’’
WOMENSTEC Programme Co-ordinator Patricia Fleming, explained why the educational visit was of importance to students:
“It was great to learn about the planning, preparation, co-ordination and hard work that goes into a building site. We were all impressed with how timber frame housing works and to see a site mid-construction was a fantastic experience. These visits really make a difference to our students and help them see the realities of work on a building site!’’
Patricia concluded by thanking all involved:
Thank you to Kevin Cosgrove (site manager) for taking the time out of his busy schedule for us and to Aisling Conway from #NotJustForBoysChampions the Braidwater Group, who planned the visit and made it all possible.’’
