Cappagh Green in Portstewart, developed by house builder BW Social Affordable Housing for Radius, has been officially handed over to the housing association.
Some of the homes at Cappagh Green recently handed over to Radius Housing.
The mixed tenure development consists of 87 social and affordable detached and semi-detached houses and apartments – and includes six ‘Complex Needs’ units to facilitate people with disabilities.
The development also features modern house designs that suit a range of needs, encouraging spacious family living allied with the perfect balance between home comforts and convenience.
A ‘Secure by Design’ scheme, the houses are designed to extremely high energy efficiency and sustainability standards and were completed at the start of March, 2022, ahead of schedule.
Cappagh Green also has a central common area where residents will have the benefit of a play park and a soft landscaped area which includes feature walls, picnic tables and seating areas – all made from recycled plastic, tar and specialist aggregate paths.
Built on a greenfield site, the Cappagh Green project had an overall investment of £11.7million, creating much needed housing in the Portstewart area.
One of the last handovers was to Margaret Ferguson (pictured), who had some very generous comments regarding the team onsite and the quality of the homes.
Margaret said: ‘I’m just so happy that my two grandchildren and myself will be moving into a home for life. This is life changing for us and we love the homes and the area. Indeed, we are so grateful to everyone involved.’
Heaping praise on not only the site foreman but also the BW house building team, she added: ‘The site foreman, Dominic Millar, and the BW house building team have been brilliant to deal with, so understanding and accommodating. I’ve nothing but praise for them, the homes and also the Radius housing team.’

Speaking on the recent handover, Darren Farnan, Marketing Manager at BW expressed delight at the completion of the development, stating: ‘The team at BW Social Affordable Housing recently handed over 87 new houses to Radius Housing and we are delighted to confirm the development was finished ahead of schedule, even with the downtime during the first lockdown.
‘This is recognition for the effort from the team on the ground, the sub-contractors and all in the office for their approach to maintaining high standards and building quality houses.
‘We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the team at Radius Housing for their professional and co-operative approach to all aspects of the construction,’ he concluded.
